Coronavirus COVID-19

Burgess Hill Horticultural Society is concerned about the impact of the Coronavirus COVID-19 on its Members, Speakers, Judges and Visitors at its Events.

The Committee have taken advice regarding the Coronavirus outbreak and feel they have no choice but to call a temporary halt to our activities. They are also mindful that our speakers, judges and visitors may wish to self-isolate themselves. Another factor in the decision to cancel is that, should Government order a ‘lock-down’, the Cyprus Hall would be swiftly closed for all non-essential events/gatherings - therefore it is better to cancel events now than (potentially) at the last minute. Where possible, talks and outings will be postponed and re-scheduled to a suitable future date rather than be cancelled. This is not possible for the Shows.

It has been decided to cancel or postpone the following Events:

Spring Flower and Produce Show - 28th March 2020. Cancelled - See our Virtual Show instead - Click here

Open Meeting - Stephen Moore of Rapkins Nursery - 1st April 2020. Postponed

Outing No 1 - Winchester  Cathedral & Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' Alresford - 29th April 2020 Postponed

Open Meeting: Speaker: Lesley Chamberlain, ‘Secret Sussex Gardens’ - 6th May 2020.  Postponed

Outing No 2 - Riverhill Himalayan Gardens Sevenoaks & Scotney Castle Gardens (NT) - 21st May 2020.   Postponed
Outing No 3 -  Cliveden Gardens Taplow (NT) & River Cruise -
10th June 2020  Postponed

Burgess Hill Summer Fayre - 14th June 2020. Cancelled

Outing No 4 - The Kent County Show - 10th July 2020. Cancelled
